JOB SUMMARY:
The requirement is to support client sales activities for US and international markets for high power amplifiers (HPAs). The company has new technology, live opportunities and a road map grow three fold within 3 years to $ 30-$40 million.

The company has circa 40 employees and a philosophy continuous improvement where the successful candidate will be required to play a critical role. The company is heavily vertically integrated with the ability to scale from protoype, LRIP and production for over 300 HPAs per month. The position reports to the Chief Engineer and is an office based position (partial remote working could be an option later) requiring collaboration with engineering, production and test personnel.
The successful incumbent is responsible for the development of new and existing microwave power amplifier products.
The candidate is required to have deep knowledge with RF power amplifier circuits, MMICs, GaN, LDMOS, and unpackaged devices. The candidate will play a part in developing engineering goals and initiatives essential to promoting technological trends and supporting the continuing growth of the company.
Candidate must have designed, built and tested high power amplifier modules (upto 1kW at the module level) from concept to repeatable volume manufacture in military applications for S-Band, C-Band, X-bands, Ku-Band, Ka-Band and L-Band microwave/radar applications. Combining expertise and requirements definition is a requirement at module and system level.
The successful candidates background will be from a defense prime or Tier 1 or Tier 2 sub-contractor.
The work environment is a modern, state-of-the-art facility in New Jersey and the successful incumbent will work within a multi-disciplinary team team of 6-8 degreed engineers. The focus is engineering rigor able to withstand the scrutiny of US and international defense primes whilst at the same time minimizing time to market.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Design new amplifiers and develop new features for existing amplifiers.
- Carry out device characterization, simulation, schematic, PCB layout , BOM, and prototype build.
- Troubleshoot and solve problems on new products.
- Evaluate findings to develop new concepts, products, equipment, or processes.
- Prepare all required documentation for new products for prototype and serial manufacture.
- Prepare necessary drawings and sketches to initiate new product production.
- Design new products within quote or according to budget.
- Ability to adapt and learn quickly, to work independently and responsibly with little supervision.
- Assist in the development of new product quotations.
- Test and tune amplifiers to achieve power, gain and other performance objectives.
- Ability to design for manufacturability.
- Defines process controls and documentation for LRIP/volume manufacture of amplifiers.
- Utilize personal contact base for specialized 3rd party vendors and potential customers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's/ Master's Degree in electrical engineering.
- Must be a self starter with leadership, strong communication and collaborative qualities.
- Minimum of 10 years experience in the military RF/Microwave industry, including design, assembly and testing RF power amplifiers.
- Must design to Mil Specs.
- Knowledge and experience with RF/MW Semiconductor circuit techniques using GaAs, GaN ,LDMOS, MMIC technology and unpackaged die.
- Knowledge and experience with Class AB power amplifier and other architectures.
- Experience of developing HPA, rack and LNA products for the company applications is essential.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office product
- Experience with Microwave simulation tools like ADS .
- Experience with schematic and PCB layout software such as PADS, 3D modeling/CAD is a plus.
- Motivation of self and colleagues to accomplish overall company goals as well as individual projects.
- Must have good verbal/written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- A strong background in RF test and measurement systems would be a significant advantage.
- A strong background in design and build to 18GHz and above would be a significant advantage.
- Knowledge of FPGA as applied to RF systems would be desireable.
- Candidate must be a U.S. citizen / Green card holder.
