Job Purpose
The Vice President of Business Development will be the company leader responsible for the top line growth of the company, working with the executive leadership to formulate growth strategies that cover the enterprise, from PCBAs, Box Builds, RF Assemblies, Semiconductor and RF components, and thin film products. The VP will be responsible for business development, sales, and all marketing functions. Org design and team building will be an important facet for this role. Growth strategies must include the 3 domains currently covered by our Sales function: Space, Defense, and Advanced Technologies and Prototyping.
Supervisory and Reporting Responsibilities:
• This position is directly responsible for managing and leading a multi-site team of Business Development Managers (BDM’s) and external sales representatives, providing growth strategies, managerial support, mentoring, compensation planning, and training.
• Reports to the CEO and dotted line to the COO
Job Responsibilities:
Establish and execute a comprehensive growth strategy for the bookings needed to meet or exceed the revenue and profit financial requirements.
• Establish growth targets for each BDM and sales rep and track their progress against the targets.
• Establish/revise incentive plans for the BDMs and Sales representatives.
• Implement a CRM solution for the organization such as Hubspot of similar capabilities.
• Organize the business development team (currently BDMs and sales reps) to effectively target markets and regions to maximize growth coverage and potential.
• Establish growth metrics, including win/loss, for reporting monthly and quarterly to the board.
• Establish customer facing quarterly business reviews (QBRs) with site leadership.
• Mentor and train the BDMs ensuring they are equipped for growing their segment.
• Implement pipeline review cadence with at least monthly reviews with c-suite.
• Develop the enterprise marketing plan driving market awareness and growth, including but not limited to the website, online presence, social media, and industry conferences and shows.
• Provide overall leadership and guidance to the business development function by overseeing talent acquisition, career development, succession planning, retention, training, leadership development, compensation, and benefits.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field
• 15 years’ experience in business development or sales with 5 years of managerial experience
• Extensive experience selling and marketing PCBA and RF products and services.
• Organization Design experience
• Broad experience coaching team members
• Ability to be agile, nimble, and hands-on, working in an environment lacking processes.
• Ability to build strong relationships with executive leaders and subordinates.
• Exceptional communication, leadership, and planning skills, able to influence and drive decisions.
• A person can be remote to primary business locations but must support extensive travel as required by the business.
